iPhone Case + Screen Film
If there is any iPhone owner out there who would like to protect their phone from any serious damage due to normal use or worse case an accident like a drop of it onto a hard surface, this is probably one of a good solution. I decided to get the Incase Protection Cover + Power Support Crystal Film Support from the Apple Store.
Since the phone will go into my pocket, I have chosen Incase Protection cover which is a silicon rubber skin for the iphone. It wraps around the phone pretty well. The rubber should protect the phone from any accidental knock on the table, or an accidental drop on a floor and the worse case a concrete floor. I have owned phones in the past, and it does happen, it will drop no matter how careful you are. You might got lucky and it never happen, so this is an insurance to the worst case scenario. Before you put on the incase protection cover, first let us work on the screen protection.
The screen protection that I have chosen here is the crystal film set from power support. After application of this film, you will hardly notice any different at all to the original screen. The film comes with the guide on how to perform the film installation. I have added several procedure to get the best result.
To perform the task, you might want to get a solution for cleaning, for my case, I have used a lens cleaner that I have for my glasses (it is biodegradable… oh great.. it is Earth friendly). A brand new lens towel. Start by cleaning the screen completely and then everywhere else of the phone. Once it is clean, just place it there on a clean table.
I make use of Dust Off Professional to blow all the dust on the phone as well as the ports. You will see after this procedure, the phone is really clean from dust, which is great. You might want to work in area free of dust, the best you could get probably in an air conditioned room with good air filters.
Once dust has been dusted off from the phone, start applying the film. You might want to align from bottom up. Try to align the round button hole to the film hole. Try to align the horizontal line between your phone and the film, then release it to the top so it will stick.
If you have done a great job this far, you should not see any dust trap in between your film and screen. If you do, don’t worry. There is a way to clean that off without leaving any fingerprints on the film. First, you should get a scotch tape and stick a little portion of the tape to the top of your iPhone, near the earphone. Lift it up and the film should follow. Lift until the area where you notice dusts are trapped.
Now, use the dust off to blow off the dust on the film, it should blow off almost any kind of dust or small particles off the film. Do not touch your film as you do not want to leave any finterprints at all. You might want to make sure that your screen is still clean, before reapplying the film.
Now you have a really clean film where you can hardly notice there is a film there. Lastly, place your iPhone into the incase protective cover, I chose the black color. It looks cool, and now I can place the phone in my pocket along with my keys with no worries
The result is pretty satisfactory. I could hardly see any air bubbles, in fact, there is none. I could hardly find any spec of dust in between the screen and the film.
The cost to purchase the case is roughly $30 range, and protection screen goes for $15 plus tax. That makes total protection for the iphone to be around $55. That wraps up this information session on how to protect your iPhone using case + film protections.
